Costa commits to Dubai
HONG KONG – Costa Cruises’ newest ship, Costa Deliziosa, will become the first ship in cruising history to be named in Dubai.
Costa Deliziosa, a 92,600 gross-tonnage ship with a capacity of 2,826 passengers, will be named on February 23.
Costa Deliziosa will offer 7-day cruises in the Arabian Gulf from March to May this year.
This itinerary will include two nights in Dubai and one-day calls to the ports of Muscat; Fujairah; Abu Dhabi and Bahrain.
Dario Rustico, sales and marketing director, Pacific Asia operations of Costa Cruises, said, “The placement of three ships in Dubai in the winter of 2009/2010 has increased guest capacity by 40 percent, and bookings are in line with the increase.â€
Costa is deploying sister ships Costa Luminosa and Costa Deliziosa in the same area.
During the winter 2009/2010 season, Costa Cruises’ ships are expected to bring 140,000 passengers to Dubai on three ships, Costa Luminosa, Costa Deliziosa and Costa Europa, for a total of 32 calls.
