Creation Museum adds theme park attractions
In move to combat declining attendances, Kentucky’s Creation Museum has added extra theme park-like attractions to draw more families.
Outdoor zip lines and a dragon exhibit has opened, but some people are questioning the relevance of these new attractions for a biblical themed museum.
The new dragon exhibit is located indoors with other biblical artifacts and asks the question whether people in biblical times mistook dinosaurs for dragons.
Attendances at the Creation Museum fell to 225,000 visitors last year, compared to over 400,000 when it first opened in 2007.
Each of the last four years have seen a steady decline in visitor numbers.
The museum is owned by Christian organization Answers in Genesis which has recently been granted $18 million in tax breaks to fund a new Noah’s Ark theme park in the state.
Some lawmakers have criticized this as they believe it is tantamount to state funding of a religious entity.
