CRUISE: Arctic cruises offer the ‘wow’ factor
Cruises in and around the Arctic are gaining popularity with operators announcing routes for the summer.
Fred Olsen will be taking its Braemar ship to the Arctic Circle and White Sea for summer 2013.
The ship calls at Tromsø, well inside the Arctic Circle and Honningsvag before a final leg in Russia during the 16-day voyage.
General sales manager, Lol Nichols, said: ‘This really is a cruise with something different to offer; it is for anyone who wants more from a holiday than ‘sun, sand and sea’ and offers a great deal in terms of culture, superb scenery and wonderful wildlife.’
Swan Hellenic has an Above the Arctic Circle cruise – 21 days leaving from Portsmouth and sailing around Norway with four days in remote Spitsbergen and a visit to Longyearbyen, one of the world’s most northerly towns.
Venture to the lands of Norway and the island of Spitsbergen with Swan Hellenic (www.swanhellenic.com/08433161715) on the Above the Arctic Circle cruise, from £2,895 per person (Saver Fare based on two people sharing an inside cabin).
