Cruise line prepares for training bonanza
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines has revealed ambitious plans to treble its number of trained agents to 6,000 following the launch of an online training programme.
Managing director Robin Shaw said it trained 2000 agents during face-to-face sessions last year but will aim to treble that number through “e-learning.”
“This will widen the training support available,” he said. “This in turn will enable agents to increase their cruise sales and awareness. Agent training is a vital part of our business.”
The new programme, which covers Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises, will comprise three levels – Cadet, Purser and Captain with each level taking one hour to complete.
Agents can access the modules at www.cruisingpower.com and log on and off when they wish.
Shaw said the modules will tackle agents’ perceptions about cruising in a move to widen its customer base. Retailers must look at the potential “beyond the traditional cruise market”, he said.
