Cruise lines launch fares to benefit early bookers
P&O Cruises and Cunard Line are introducing a new fare structure so passengers booking early do not miss out.
The Price Promise means that if the Vantage Fare booked for their holiday is ever reduced, passengers booking early are eligible for on-board perks up to the value of the reduction, such as spending money or upgrades.
Customers booking the new Vantage Fares can benefit from on-board spending, car parking at Southampton, return coach transfers and airport parking.
They will also be able to select the cabin of their choice, will have the flexibility to alter their cruise up to 90 days before departure and will be eligible for a 10% deposit if booked by 31 August.
But the cruise lines say they may still sell restricted ticket types near to departure called Getaway fares which will not be subject to the Price Promise and will not offer the benefits of the Vantage Fares.
Vantage Fares are launching on 23 July and will cover cruises leaving from April 2013.
P&O Cruises managing director Carol Marlow said: "Travel companies have been discounting for decades, but holidaymakers understandably get frustrated when they find out they’ve paid significantly more than someone else for exactly the same package.
Cunard managing director and president Peter Shanks said: "We are making a significant change to our approach to selling cruises – doing so on the back of what our customers are telling us – and fit for purpose in an economy where customers want peace of mind and outstanding value for money.
