Cruise passenger arrested for alleged sexual assault
A Royal Caribbean cruise guest was arrested in South Florida accused of rape of another ship guest.
Juan Campos, 28, of Houston, Texas was arrested at Port Everglades as the Freedom of the Seas docked after a week-long Caribbean cruise.
He was held at the Broward County Main Jail and later posted bail.
The incident allegedly rook place on the ship in the early hours of August 28.
Campos’ attorney, Ed Hoeg said it was consensual and Campos stopped when asked to do so by the 20-year-old woman.
“It was a normal cruise, he was with friends, they met some people on board and next thing you know, he’s charged with this crime,’ Hoeg told local media.
However, the woman accused him of penetrating her ‘with an unknown object’ according to the probable cause affidavit.
Hoeg said Campos comes from a law enforcement family and doesn’t have a criminal record.
