Cruise price is right…especially in Caribbean

Thursday, 13 Feb, 2007 0

Travelers are responding to the buyer’s market in cruising with some prices as low as $40 a day, according to Cruise Line International Association (CLIA).

CLIA, which represents 21 lines or 97% of North American-based cruise lines, says another half million cruisers will come on board this year, swelling the more than 10 million that cruised last year.

Where can cruisers get the most for their money?

The Caribbean, partly because of price but also because many cruisers can drive to their embarkation port.

Some other trends:

ü       More destinations than ever before. Ports are being added in the Caribbean and elsewhere.

ü       Luxury features such as balcony suites and spas have become common. Some ships ever offer personal trainers.

ü       Less restrictions on dining and dress. Eating times have been extended with new options of where to dine.

ü       More ships are offering connectivity through e-mails and cell phone offerings.
