Cruise ships setting sail again for New Orleans

The cruise ships are returning to hurricane-stricken New Orleans.

One of the first to resume service: Norwegian Cruise Line. It scheduled cruises on the Norwegian Sun this fall.

Next year, the line will redeploy the ‘Sun to Hawaii’ for the winter season and replace it in New Orleans with its 1,966-passenger ‘Spirit’, which will offer seven-day cruises, according to the cruise line.

Carnival announced plans to reintroduce four-and-five-day sailings from the Port of New Orleans on its 2,634-passenger ‘Fantasy’.

Carnival and Amtrak this fall also said they will resume their “”Rail & Cruise” combo program in and out of New Orleans.Amtrak is also offering discounts for cruise passengers to New Orleans.
