Cruise ships skip Puerto Vallarta calls
Several cruise ships have amended itineraries in the past few days to steer clear of Puerto Vallarta.
Cruise lines have taken no chances after violence flared in Mexico.
Norwegian Bliss, Royal Princess and Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam skipped planned calls.
Violence spread across the region after a cartel boss was killed, sparking a shelter-in-place order from the U.S. Embassy in Mexico.
Norwegian Bliss canceled its call last week and is still monitoring the situation.
“Any additional itinerary updates for ships scheduled to call to Mexico will be communicated directly with impacted guests,” the cruise line said.
The ship’s next call at Puerto Vallarta is March 4, 2026.
HAL’s Zuiderdam canceled its Feb. 23 call as did Royal Princess, which added an overnight in Cabo San Lucas and will today call at Mazatlán instead.
“To prioritize the safety of guests and crew, we cancelled Royal Princess’ planned visit to Puerto Vallarta this week. We are working on reviewing our onward itinerary,” Princess said.
Several ships are due to visit Puerto Vallarta next week in early March but cruise lines haven’t yet confirmed any definite changes.
On Tuesday, the Jalisco state government said ‘order and stability have been restored’ in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara city.
