Ctrip signs tourism marketing partnership with Yokohama
Chinese travel giant Ctrip signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the city of Yokohama, Japan aimed at further developing two-way travel between the countries.
Chinese tourist arrivals to Yokohama increased by 78% in 2017.
China remains the largest source market for Japan with 7.4 million trips last year, representing an annual increase of 15.4%.
Yokohama is also a key port of entry for cruise traffic.
The partnership will see the OTA work closely with Yokohama tourism officials to better market tourism products by leveraging its big data resources.
It will use key insights in user behaviour and spending patterns to tweak personalised product design for the market.
"We hope to play our part in facilitating two-way travel between China and Japan and to jointly develop the cross-border cultural tourism industry," said Ctrip CEO Jane Sun.
Ctrip opened a Japan branch office in 2015 and is currently constructing a new Japanese call centre.
