CTS becomes first US travel company to open Cuba office for decades

Saturday, 28 Feb, 2018 0

Cuba Travel Services will open a Havana office next month, becoming the first U.S. based travel firm with a presence on Cuban soil for more than 60 years.

CTS, which has offices in California, Florida, New Jersey and Texas, will offer services including flight ticket sales, hotel bookings; tour operations support and ground transportation.

The office is located near the Sierra Maestra cruise terminal and CTS is targeting other locations in Havana, along with Camaguey, Cienfuegos, Varadero and Santiago de Cuba.

The company says a physical presence in the country is important to better assist clients on the ground and ensure cruise and tour operator clients are offering OFAC compliant tour programs.

"Having the Ministry of Tourism grant this request to have a location in Cuba has been a big win for our organization. Our physical presence means our licensed clients will get faster service and more personalized attention directly from our staff," said Michael Zuccato, Cuba Travel Services general manager.

"This is a very exciting time for us, to be the first U.S. based Travel Company to open its doors in Havana."
