Havana has been introduced by cruise specialist Voyages of Discovery in a 2006-07 winter preview brochure.

Cruises booked before January 31 receive an additional 10% discount on top of early booking rates of up to 50%. A no single occupancy supplement applies to a limited number of cabins on all winter itineraries.

Cuba prices start at £2,495 per person for a 21-night voyage to Havana, departing December 8 from Barcelona with stops at Gibraltar, Funchal, Barbados, St Lucia, Martinique, Antigua and Grand Turk.

A17-night Galapagos, Peru and Chile voyage, departing March 31, 2007 starts at £2,695.

The 650-passenger MV Discovery will return to Antarctica next winter, including two cruises which combine Antarctica with the Chilean fjords and a 15-night cruise of Antarctica.

The line offers optional holiday extensions which include city stays in Havana and Sydney, and side trips to Iguassu Falls and Machu Picchu.

Managing director David Yellow said: “Sailing from Barcelona to the South Pacific and back to Britain, our winter season offers a wide range of unusual and exciting destinations. There will be transatlantic sailings that start and finish in Cuba, passages through the Panama Canal and visits to Patagonia and Antarctica.

“We are delighted to be offering cruises to Havana for the first time. There will also be more time spent ashore exploring a number of destinations, particularly the Galapagos and, as ever, distinguished lecturers will be onboard every cruise to enrich the experience.”
