Cyprus in shock at lewd cruise footage
Tourism authorities in Cyprus are reportedly in shock after scenes from a “mass orgy” on a cruise ship were televised after a police “sting”.
According to a report in The Guardian, up to 100 tourists, including Britons, were involved in “acts of debauchery” on the ship, which is believed to have started its cruise from the often-maligned resort of Ayia Napa.
The newspaper states that the trip was officially being advertised as a “GBP30 night cruise, with a meal”.
One employee from Mega TV, which broadcasted edited “scenes” from the ship, is quoted as saying: “To say these pictures are shocking is to put it mildly. They are outrageous, very wild,”, while the island’s deputy police chief stated that the tourists were, “from the look of it”, from Britain and Scandinavia.
The Guardian reports that to pursue legal action, the Greek Cypriot authorities will have to get special permission from Interpol because the alleged incidents took place outside the island’s territorial waters. However, the Greek Cypriot government said that it would pursue the matter as drugs “appeared” to have been consumed on the cruise.
