Eastern European hotel chain Danubius Hotels, which has over 70 properties in the Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia, has bought one of London’s premier hotels. The company, owned by Austrian millionaire Sir Bernard Shreier, has paid Jarvis Hotels £60 million for the Ramada Plaza Regent’s Park. Meanwhile, CP Holdings is spending £23 million redeveloping the Crescent Hotel in Buxton, Derbyshire, which will be re-opened in 2007 as a Danubius spa hotel. The Royal Bank of Scotland has sold the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin for around £90 million to a consortium of Irish investors. It will continue to be operated by Marriott International.
