Day use of hotels spurs some romance

Friday, 24 Jan, 2012 0

European-based Dayuse-Hotels.com next month is adding upscale properties in New York City, its first venture into the US. The company has an unusual niche: it allows guests to reserve rooms in boutique hotels for day sessions lasting from three to seven hours.

It currently has a roster of properties in Paris, London, plus cities in Belgium, Luxeumbourg and Switzerland.

"There are a few reasons why people might want to rent a hotel room during the day for a few hours. Business meetings, maybe. Or naps," says London’s Daily Mail

But Dayuse-Hotels isn’t shy about admitting that most of its users are probably booking for a romantic tête-à-tête, the newspaper adds.

The concept of love hotels in Japan and Brazil has been around for a while, and this website is simply upgrading the idea by applying it to posh hotels.

Why it is happening now? Some say because of economic times that lead hoteliers to more desperate measures. Others attribute it to a growing romance movement.
