Deadly tornadoes hit US Midwest
Deadly tornadoes hit the US Midwest yesterday resulting in death, injury and severe damage in areas.
Flights were grounded at Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway airports as the whole area was under a tornado watch.
The multiple tornadoes have killed at least six people, injured about 40 and flattened large parts of the city of Washington, Illinois.
They emerged out of a large weather system bringing thunderstorms to parts of Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky, the weather service said.
The storm was so fast-moving – with winds of up to 111km/h (68mph) – that weather services issued warnings for people not to wait until they saw the weather change.
It is continuing its way east.
