Delays warning as new Heathrow Airport strike begins
With no compromise on a pay deal, the planned Heathrow Airport strike goes ahead.
It will affect mostly outbound air traffic in the lead up to the Coronation as over 1,000 security officers walk out at Terminal 5.
Signs have been erected at the airport saying: “There may be some security delays due to industrial action.”
“This will cause inevitable disruption and delays at the airport,” union Unite said.
The airport strike lasts three days, followed by further stoppages on 9–10 and 25–27 May.
Heathrow management rejects claims of major disruption.
“Passengers can be reassured that they will travel as normal. We will not let these unnecessary strikes disrupt journeys.”
It has again drafted in hundreds of workers ‘and the entire management team’ to help out.
