Delta, Aeromexico adding more Mexico routes
The Delta Air Lines-Aeromexico alliance will launch five new flights between the US and Mexico, along with added capacity on existing routes.
New routes are Atlanta to Merida and Queretaro, Los Angeles to Leon, and Seattle and Portland to Mexico City.
More flights will be added on existing routes linking Los Angeles to Los Cabos, New York JFK to Cancun, Atlanta to Leon, and Atlanta-Guadalajara.
"The changes we are announcing underscore the level of integration, customer focus and commitment we bring to the transborder market," said Aeromexico-Delta joint business vice president Nicolas Ferri.
This will increase overall seat capacity between the two countries by about 10%.
The two airlines recently began a joint cooperation agreement in the US-Mexico market which includes joint sales and marketing functions and agreement to invest in airport infrastructure in Mexico.
"The ability to cooperate fully with Aeromexico brings additional competition to one of the most dynamic transborder markets in the world. We are now well positioned to provide significant benefits to our customers, our businesses and our employees," said Delta CEO Ed Bastian.
