Delta Air Lines will launch a new flight from Glasgow, Scotland to New York next year following the successful launch two weeks ago of its inaugural Edinburgh service.

The new service will begin on May 26 and will be the only non-stop flight between Glasgow and New York-JFK.

It will operate daily throughout the summer.

The flight will be operated in conjunction with joint venture partner Virgin Atlantic and adds to Virgin’s seasonal service from Glasgow to Orlando.

"As a core component of our global strategy, we are eager to build our network across the UK and this new flight shows our commitment to Scotland," said Dwight James, Delta’s senior vice president, transatlantic.

"With this service, Delta will operate from four airports in Scotland and England offering our customers more choice of local services to reach their chosen US destination, as well as offering tourism and business opportunities for Scotland."

Delta will also launch a new flight from London Heathrow to Portland, Oregon next May.
