Delta Connection flight attendants authorize strike
Compass Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), have authorized a strike should negotiations with management fail to reach an agreement that can be ratified. The strike was authorized by an overwhelming 94 percent of participating flight attendants.
Compass,a Delta Connection carrier headquartered in Minneapolis, runs 190 daily flights to over 50 Delta Air Lines destinations.
The flight attendants’ union said that management’s refusal to address flight attendant concerns could lead to CHAOS—their trademarked random striking strategy– if the National Mediation Board (NMB) declares that negotiations are deadlocked and releases the parties into a 30-day "cooling-off" period and strike deadline.
CHAOS stands for "Create Havoc Around Our System and means that a strike could affect a single flight or a whole system. Union management decide when and where to strike and do not give notice to passengers or management.
