Delta doles out free pizza for delayed passengers
A pilot has been praised on social media for ordering takeaway pizzas for passengers after a flight was delayed for several hours on the tarmac.
In what seems to be a growing trend, the Delta Airlines captain ordered the delivery to apologise to passengers for delay to their flight.
The flight, which was heading from Phildelphia to Atlanta, had been diverted to Knoxville because of bad weather en route, said news reports.
Passengers were told they had to sit out the storm on the tarmac and as they were unable to disembark, the pilot ordered food to be brought to them.
Passengers later posted photos on Twitter and Instagram of cabin crew dishing out the unexpected delivery from Pizza Hut.
Last July, Frontier Airlines’ captain Gerhard Bradner earned praise from passengers when he ordered – and reportedly paid for out of his own pocket – 50 pizzas from Dominos during a lengthy delay to a flight from Washington to Denver.
