Delta Air Lines is handing out its second biggest ever profit sharing payday to employees.

The global workforce of 80,000 will share $1.3 billion.

In 2016, the company paid out $1.5 billion.

It was calculated on Delta’s 2018 pre-tax income of $5.2 billion.

Delta employee gets a bonus equal to 14% of their annual pay.

The airline also announced it will pay employees if they wish to volunteer at a nonprofit organization of their choice.

Starting on April 1, it will give workers a paid day off from work to volunteer at a 501(c)(3) or international nonprofit organization.

"Giving back has always been a part of our culture so, to celebrate, we are investing both in the Delta people and in the communities where they live, work and serve," said Delta’s Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian.

Delta’s launched a community ‘profit sharing’ program in 2016, which contributes one percent of net profits to selected charitable organizations.

Last year it paid out $50 million.
