Delta launching new Seoul route from Minneapolis
Delta Air Lines will start flying a fourth nonstop route to Seoul, South Korea from next year.
The Atlanta based carrier has announced a new Minneapolis-St. Paul service which will begin sometime next summer.
It joins Delta’s other direct flights to Seoul from its Atlanta hub, Seattle and Detroit.
It also marks the second Asian nonstop route from the Twin Cities.
Delta also operates daily from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Tokyo Haneda, which is doing well and will continue.
"It’s going to be an incredible opportunity for the local community. It’ll be great," Delta CEO Ed Bastion said of the new MSP route.
The new route is part of a strategic expansion in collaboration with joint venture partner Korean Air.
The two airlines have significantly expanded their codesharing network and together they are now the largest trans-Pacific operator.
Delta recently moved to Seoul Incheon’s new Terminal 2, joining Korean Air
"I believe it to be the best Asian airport out there," Bastian said.
