Disney names new global parks chief
Walt Disney Co has named a new parks chief to succeed Bob Chapek.
Walt Disney World president Josh D’Amaro becomes chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
D’Amaro obly recently took over as WDW president after a stint as president of the Disneyland Resort in California.
Former Disney Signature Experiences president Jeff Vahle has been selected to replace D’Amaro in Orlando.
"I want to thank Bob for giving me this opportunity, and I look forward to following his record of driving innovation, value and growth at Parks," D’Amaro said.
Capek previously served in the same role as global parks chief before moving up to chief executive officer.
It is part of a wider reshuffle at the top which includes the promotion of Disneyland president Rebecca Campbell to the position of chairman of Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer and International segments.
"Our company is very fortunate to have a deep bench of talent and we’re extremely pleased to welcome these two exceptionally qualified Disney veterans to our senior management team," Chapek said.
With the exception of just reopened Disneyland Shanghai, Disney parks remain closed due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
