Disney travel boss to step down

Monday, 10 Feb, 2014 0

Long serving Disney travel executive Randy Garfield is to retire in April after 20 years with the company.

Garfield is president of the Walt Disney Travel Company and also served as executive vice president of worldwide sales and travel operations for Disney Destinations.

Garfield has been leading the sales and distribution marketing operation for Disney theme parks worldwide, the Disney Vacation Club and Disney Event Group.

He was also in charge of central reservations for Disney resorts and special event and group sales.

During his time with Disney he has overseen many significant changes with the introduction of five new theme parks and the launch of Disney Cruise Line.

Prior to joining Disney in 1993 his previous travel industry roles include marketing and sales management positions at TWA and Universal Studios.

Garfield said he was leaving his position to spend more time with his family but will also remain involved with a few travel industry projects.

He is an executive committee member of the US Travel Association and serves on the board of directors for Brand USA.

Disney has not yet announced a replacement for Garfield.
