Dispel the myths of high fares, agents are told

Tuesday, 28 Jan, 2011 0

ABTA is urging its members to tell their customers how much tax they are paying on their flight after a survey  found 27% of consumers do not notice the amount of tax they are paying.

In a list of top tips for agents, ABTA advised: "Don’t let the Government take advantage of this. Tell your customers how much of their hard-earned cash is going to the Treasury in Air Passenger Duty and dispel the myth that the high costs of flights are boosting your profits."

Its survey of over 2,000 consumers was conducted by research company Arkenford Ltd  in September.

It also found that:

71% recognise the ABTA logo

70% see ABTA membership as an essential or by far the single most consideration when booking a holiday

53% value the service, knowledge, expertise, and experience of agents.

ABTA also advised members to make full use of the ABTA logo, to stress the expertise of their staff, and stressing the protection offered by the code of conduct and the ABTA arbritation scheme.
