Do Not Call Registry removes telemarketers
A national Do Not Call Registry now available gives consumers the choice of whether they want to receive telemarketer calls from travel or other companies at their home or business.
Most telemarketers will not call the number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, consumers can file a complaint, according to the US Government.
“The Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Communications Commission, and the states are enforcing the National Do Not Call Registry. Placing your number on the registry will stop most, but not all, telemarketing calls,” says the Federal Trade Commission.
The National Do Not Call Registry will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five years. Stipulations are that consumers must call from the cell phone number they want to have blocked. Consumers cannot call from a different phone number
The Privacy Council recommends consumers call the Registry List every six months to ensure the unwanted calls are blocked.
