Don’t leave the plane without a heavy coat!
Passengers to sue airline over in-flight comments by maverick pilot
Passengers who had to endure a nightmare flight at the hands of a maverick Brazilian pilot are planning to sue the airline. The online news provider Ananova tells the tale of the Gol Airlines pilot, who left passengers terrified when a one-hour flight from Rio de Janeiro to Vitoria ended up taking five hours.
In particular, passengers were upset by “inappropriate” comments made by the pilot. When they were approaching Vitoria airport, the pilot reportedly said: “The good news is that we have made a safe take-off; the bad news is that no aircraft are being successful at landing at our destination.”
He reportedly continued: “We are 10,000 feet above ground, 46 Celsius below zero, and I would not advise anyone to get out of the aircraft without a heavy coat.” Passengers also reported that the pilot tried to make one landing at Vitoria despite poor weather conditions, but aborted the landing at a height of 200 metres.
The piece de resistance reportedly came when he asked passengers if they felt dizzy because of the rough ride.
