Downtown Scottsdale: $3 billion in development
Downtown Scottsdale is undergoing a massive, $3 billion in development within its 786-acre area, according to local tourism officials.
Two of the most prominent projects — Scottsdale Waterfront and SouthBridge – are nearing completion along the ancient Arizona Canal.
The $250 million Scottsdale Waterfront is a 1.1 million-square-foot residential and retail development that is home to well-known culinary spots such as P.F. Chang’s, Sauce and Wildfish Seafood Grille as well as eateries like Olive & Ivy Restaurant & Marketplace and Pink Taco.
“SouthBridge is a $41 million urban development scheduled for completion next January. When complete, SouthBridge will have more than 30,000 square feet of retail space and seven planned restaurants — all unique in design and concept with no chains,” says a city news release.
Another prominent project is W Scottsdale set to open early next year. It is Arizona’s first W Hotel and will feature 224 guestrooms, a spa, restaurant and two bars as well as a 3,500-square-foot ballroom, 2,000-square-foot outdoor terrace, three meeting rooms, and the Bliss spa.
“A newly formed alliance in Scottsdale called Savor Scottsdale is also working to enhance the city’s reputation as a dining destination by building local pride and driving national recognition,” says the release.
