Dreaming of a Real Christmas – then where better that in the Holy Land

Tuesday, 13 Oct, 2006 0

A white Christmas or a beach at Christmas is a wonderful experience, with sleighs, Christmas trees, lights, Santa, holly, elves or a beach barbeque all making for a pleasant Christmas experience.

However if you seek a truly authentic Christmas experience nothing can top Christmas in the place it began.

Each year thousands of people come to Manger Square in Bethlehem which marks the birthplace of Jesus, Christianity and has inspired dozens of Christmas carols, with last year 20,000 people from around the world celebrating Christmas in Manger Square and this year you can join them.

If you do plan to be a part of the festivities in Bethlehem, book early as we have to arrange your pass to attend the festivities at Manger Square.

Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre offers packages to Israel and accommodation arrangements in Jerusalem just a few kilometers from Bethlehem.

As has been the tradition for the past few years tourists will have special access to Bethlehem in the Palestinian Authority area from Jerusalem during the Christmas period and while you’re in Israel explore the spiritual majesty of Jerusalem the Holy City for half of humanity.

If you’re really lucky you may even see the Holy City shine from beneath a blanket of winter snow, with winter in Israel is the time to enjoy the green beauty of the Galilee, ski the Holy Land on Mt Hermon, perhaps taking in the vibrant nightlife in Tel Aviv and enjoying the unique experience of floating on the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, 416metres below sea level.

Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre’s Israel programs are easily combined with Jordan and Egypt.

So, make a change from a typical Christmas and experience an authentic Christmas in the Holy Land. For details call 1300 661 666 or check out the website.
