Dreamliner findings are weeks away
US safety officials say it could take weeks to find the cause of the problems plaguing Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner.
Deborah Hersman, who helms the National Transportation Safety Board, said some information might be released sooner, but the answers are still weeks away.
Inspectors are trying to find out what sparked and ignited lithium-ion batteries onboard the 787 on multiple flights in January.
The problems led to the authorities grounding all 50 of the 787s in use.
Hersman told reporters at a Christian Science Monitor briefing that she didn’t believe the batteries were categorically unsafe but that the issue is “to make sure you’ve done the right risk assessment, that you understand what the failure modes are and that you’ve mitigated any potential risks”.
