Drug tests for crash ferry crew

Reuters and other news sources report that the National Transportation Safety Board is digging into the causes of the Seastreak Wall Street ferry boat crash that happened on Wednesday morning in Lower Manhattan.

Inspectors have now gone out to the Highlands, New Jersey berth were the damaged ferry was towed on Thursday to sort through the evidence.

Reports said the commuter ferry craft was ripped open "like a tin can" when it crashed into its pier during docking.  Passengers were thrown to the ground and 57 were injured including one who was listed in "critical" condition.

Reuters reports that the five members of the crew first passed a breathalyzer test and will now undergo drug tests.  NTSB investigators are focusing on the possibility of mechanical failure as the cause of the accident.
