Dubai gears up for ATM
Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) will promote several of its new initiatives at this year’s Arabian Travel Market (April 30-May 3).
There will be 16 new sellers among 183 co-participants on the 1195sqm Dubai stand, including Aero Space Tourism and Dubai Camel Racing Club.
Saleh Al Geziry, DTCM director of overseas promotions and inward missions said, "The DTCM will be utilising the opportunity to promote and market various initiatives like New Hotel Classification, Definitely Dubai, Dubai Experts and Dubai Green Tourism Award."
He added that the Dubai tourism industry posted a stellar performance in 2011 and in the first quarter of 2012.
Dubai hosted 9.3 million hotel guests and cruise passengers in 2011, up 10% compared with the previous year’s 8.49 million.
Guest nights rose to almost 33 million in 2011 and revenues of hotels and hotel apartments increased by 20% to touch AED16 billion (US$4.35bn)
The emirate continued its strong growth levels with Dubai being placed first globally for hotel occupancy levels and average revenue per room (RevPAR) for the month of January 2012 in a STR Global report.
