Earthquake strikes popular tourist island, killing dozens
A least 107 have died in an earthquake that devastated a popular tourist island in the Philippines.
The 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit the central island of Bohol yesterday, triggering landslides that engulfed homes, ripped apart bridges and tore down historic churches.
The national disaster agency said today that the number of people killed on Bohol and on neighbouring islands had reached 107, but more bodies are expected to be found by rescue workers who have yet to reach some villages and towns.
More than 800 aftershocks have been recorded, including one this morning with a magnitude of 5.1.
