easyJet adds five Belfast routes
Five new routes from Belfast are being added by easyJet from today.
The no-frills carrier launches flights to Inverness, Geneva and Rome followed by Berlin and Palma, Mallorca tomorrow. More than 50,000 seats have been sold for the new services, with Rome proving to be the most popular destination.
The airline is also to extend flights on a summer-only route to Faro through the winter.
The expansion in services means that easyJet now serves 19 routes from its Northern Ireland base at Belfast International Airport.
The Berlin, Geneva and Rome routes have been estbalished with support from Air Route Development, created by the government to aid economic development in Northern Ireland through improved air access.
EasyJet now has five aircraft based in Belfast and has created 30 new air crew and ground staff jobs with the additional flights.
Chief executive Ray Webster said: “EasyJet has launched 10 new routes from Belfast in the last 12 months and recognises the potential for further development from the region.”
