EasyJet boss demands ATC independent review
EasyjJet CEO Johan Lundgren slammed the air traffic control failure during the bank holiday and demanded a ‘full independent inquiry.’
It ‘must not happen again,’ he said.
Holidaymakers remain stranded overseas while hundreds of flights were cancelled over three days.
National Air Traffic Services (NATS) said an ‘unusual piece of data’ was to blame as it was forced it to switch to manual checks.
“We have been absolutely focused this week on helping our customers impacted,” Lundgren said.
“Passengers deserve a full independent review.”
NATS is conducting its own probe and will report to Transport Secretary Mark Harper next week.
“As more seats become available we are contacting customers who we know are yet to return home,” easyJet said.
