easyJet chief pilot leaves to join Stelios’ Fastjet
easyJet’s chief pilot is to join Fastjet, the new African budget carrier set up by easyJet founder Sir Stelios.
Rob Bishton, who has been at easyJet for two years as chief pilot and head of aircraft operations, is said to be on ‘gardening leave’ after leaving the airline last week, reports the Sunday Times.
Bishton, who was previously director of flight operations at Astraeus, is believed to be joining Fastjet as operations director.
At the same time easyJet chairman Sir Mike Rake has confirmed that he does not wish to be a candidate for the Chairmanship of Barclays, despite being seen as the favourite successor.
Rake, who is deputy chairman at the bank, issued a formal statement this morning.
