EasyJet goes dynamic in Igluski.com tie-up

Monday, 08 Dec, 2005 0

A joint online venture between easyJet and online ski retailer Igluski.com will allow skiers to package their own tailor-made trips through a new website.

The new site, www.easyJet4ski.com, offers access to 54,000 beds in more than 250 resorts within reach of the carrier’s budget flights to France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany.

Accommodation is available from two to seven nights in self-catering apartments, chalets, hotels and catered chalets.

The site details transfer times from the nearest airport to allow independent skiers to link the most accessible ski resorts to a particular flight. Travel insurance, car hire, parking, airport lounges, resort information – including live webcams – and a weekly special offers page also feature.

Online booking is possible for 90% of the accommodation and a specialist Iglu team can be contacted by email or telephone, according to the airline. A quarter of the accommodation available for short breaks and weekends.

EasyJet said: “www.easyJet4ski.com will revolutionise the ski market and change the way we think of ski holidays, giving skiers the opportunity to travel several times a season instead of the traditional one week a year.”

The carrier’s commercial director Saad Hammad said: “For years easyJet has been developing the flexible DIY ski holiday market, providing a greater choice of flights at our fantastically low fares.

“However, many of the hotels have stuck to the traditional and restrictive Saturday to Saturday/seven night stay. But now the accommodation providers recognise the potential of flexible stay and mid-week travel and the new and improved easyJet4ski website will facilitate this change and help lead this trend.”

Igluski.com chief executive Richard Downs claimed: “This is a major breakthrough for the independent skier. It will save them time and money and, we believe, lead to a massive increase in the number of people packaging their own ski holiday.

“We’re especially pleased that a quarter of the accommodation is available for short breaks, ski weekends and flexible durations for as little as two nights. Link that to EasyJet’s network of ski flights and the choice for winter sports enthusiasts is enormous.”
