EasyJet shares soar on steady trading
Airline shares did well yesterday as London’s main equity indices moved in opposite directions. The benchmark FTSE 100 index managed to gain 3.8 points to close at 4937.3, while the FTSE 250 dropped 28.5 points to end the day at 7200. EasyJet shares had a great session, putting on 14.5p to close at 212.75p after releasing a positive trading update; according to The Guardian, the carrier reported that revenue per passenger is likely to rise by one or two per cent over last year, and that trading conditions have remained stable in the last six months. Ryanair also did well, putting on 6.875p to close at 405.75p.
