EasyJet to expand at Luton
EasyJet is launching three new routes out of London Gatwick and plans to expand operations at Luton.
The carrier will launch flights from Gatwick to Marseilles, Toulouse and Bilbao from 26 October, with return fares starting at GBP41, including taxes and charges. Seats go on sale from tomorrow (Thursday).
The carrier has also announced that it plans to expand operations at Luton, from which it currently operates 17 routes. Chief executive, Ray Webster said: “We are currently in the advanced stage of negotiations with airports across Europe which will provide us with a range of exciting new expansion opportunities.”
EasyJet founder, Stelios Haji-Ioannou has sold more shares in the carrier, worth £19 million. He will use the capital to fund other business ventures that are losing money. His other ventures include “easy” cinemas, car rental, and internet cafes, as well as hotel and cruise projects, which are in the pipeline.
