eDreams ODIGEO launches flight cancellation guarantee
Online travel firm eDreams ODIGEO has introduced a flight cancellation guarantee allowing customers to cancel their flights up to 24 hours before departure and receive a refund of 80% of the ticket cost.
The new ‘Cancel for Any Reason’ product costs about 5% extra but allows passengers to cancel without any explanation.
However, there are some onerous terms and conditions, which might make it less attractive than it first appears.
Every passenger on the booking must pay for the new flight cancellation guarantee and a cancellation will apply to everyone on the booking.
Also, it isn’t possible to cancel only one sector, which effectively means that the entire trip must be cancelled to qualify for the 80% refund.
The refund only applies to the flights, not any hotels booked, insurance premiums, additional products bought or fees paid.
The Cancel for Any Reason product is available on OTA websites eDreams, Opodo, GO Voyages and Travelink.
Quentin Bacholle, chief vacation products officer of eDreams ODIGEO, said: "At eDreams ODIGEO we always seek to enhance the traveller experience. We work to make our customers’ lives easier by simplifying the booking process as much as possible.
"Cancel for Any Reason adds to our portfolio of features and services that provide travellers with flexibility and tranquility, while maintaining our commitment to offering the most competitive prices in the market."
There is a maximum refund limit of €5,000 per person or €45,000 per trip.
