Emirates, AFTA offer travel consultant scholarship
Emirates, in conjunction with the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA), has launched the inaugural Emirates National Travel Consultant Scholarship.
"With around 80 per cent of our revenue in Australia derived from trade, Emirates is committed to its travel trade partners," said Barry Brown, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president, Commercial Operations East.
"The annual scholarship will recognise an up-and-coming travel agent with the talent and aspirations for a long term career in the travel industry," Brown said
AFTA will shortlist and judge the finalists.
Emirates will provide the scholarship winner with a contribution of up to $10,000 towards an education course to enhance their career together with a Business Class trip for two to Dubai to meet key leaders at Emirates, plus a trip to Melbourne to take in the Emirates Melbourne Cup.
To be eligible, the travel agent should be employed by an AFTA member travel agency, be willing to attend a judging interview and be able to demonstrate their need for further education.
AFTA and Emirates will release details shortly on the process and further criteria required for travel agents to enter the programme.
