Emirates boosts Heathrow service
Emirates has added extra capacity on services from Heathrow by introducing a larger aircraft on all flights.
The carrier already operates two of its daily services between Heathrow and Dubai with a Boeing 777-300, but will now use the aircraft for the third daily flight as well.
The move adds 137 seats to the 22.30 flight. Emirates says it is responding to customer demand.
The Dubai-based carrier is launching flights to Shanghai, Lagos (subject to Government approval), Auckland and Brisbane this year, and plans to fly to the US for the first time in 2004. The first flight from Dubai to New York will be on 1 April 2004 and to San Francisco from Summer 2004.
The carrier has just placed an order worth $19 billion for 71 Airbus and Boeing aircraft. It claims this is the biggest aircraft order in history.
