Emirates celebrates ten years in Australia
Last week marked the tenth anniversary of Emirates’ inaugural service into Melbourne, Australia. Not only was it a first for Emirates but also for Victoria, with the introduction of the Boeing 777 being the first of its type to land in Australia.
To mark this special occasion, Senior Management of Tourism Victoria (TV) hosted a tea reception for Eddie Lim, Area Manager Australia and staff in recognition of Emirates’ success in Victoria.
“Our entire team has worked very hard to achieve the phenomenal growth we have experienced in Australia, and we are immensely proud of our success,” said Mr Lim.
“Since 1996, we have fast become the favourite airline of thousands of Australians, and we are determined to continue providing excellent service, world class entertainment and competitive fares to the world’s top destinations.”
“Our commitment to Australia is demonstrated by our extensive local sponsorship portfolio, which includes the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Collingwood Football Club, Melbourne, Sydney and West Australian Symphony Orchestras, Emirates Western Force and many more. We are looking forward to many more years of continued service to our Australian passengers, and intend to bring many more international visitors to Australia. ”
Ian McDougal, Tourism Victoria’s International Marketing Manager said Emirates has made a significant contribution to Victorian and Australian tourism.
“Emirates has brought thousands of passengers from Europe, Africa and the Middle East to Australia for both business and leisure. Over the last decade, Emirates has made a significant contribution to positioning Australia as one of the world’s most desirable tourist destinations,” he said.
Eddie Lim, Fil Ruberto and Aban Irani have been part of the team since day one. Fil was former Executive Secretary to Eddie and is now Customer Relations Manager, Australia New Zealand.
Aban headed up the Reservations and Ticketing team for Emirates under the GSA and is now Reservations and Ticketing Supervisor.
