Emirates completes world’s longest passenger flight
Emirates has completed the world’s longest non-stop commercial scheduled flight with the inauguration of its service between Dubai and Auckland this week.
The flight took 17 hours and 15 minutes to cover 8,824 miles.
The previous longest flight was operated by Qantas between Sydney and Dallas, a route which was launched in 2014.
The first flight from Dubai to Auckland was operated by an Emirates A380, but the airline plans to use a Boeing 777 on the route in future.
It is also planning to launch an even longer flight, between Dubai and Panama City, later this month. That flight will take 17 hours and 35 minutes.
