Emirates takes guard at Old Trafford
The third Ashes Test will be played at Emirates Old Trafford this summer after Lancashire renamed their famous old ground as part of a 10-year sponsorship deal.
It is the first time since 1936 that Manchester’s illustrious cricket and football grounds have been known by different names.
The deal with the airline is the biggest in the history of county cricket and will help to secure the venue’s future as a host for Test cricket.
A £32 million redevelopment is due to be completed before the Ashes match in August, the first Test the ground has staged since 2010.
The announcement extends Emirates global commitment to cricket, which includes its status as Official Worldwide Partner to the International Cricket Council (ICC), which includes the Cricket World Cup.
