EMIRATES WINS BEST INTERNATIONAL AIRLINE – ONLINE AT AFTA AWARDS
Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, was crowned Best International Airline – Online at the prestigious Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) National Travel Industry Awards, at Melbourne’s Grand Hyatt on Saturday 8th July.
The annual awards are the benchmark for excellence in the Australia’s travel industry, celebrating leading Australian and international suppliers, including travel agents, airlines, tourist offices, cruise and tour operators, hotels and much more.
The awards are decided by AFTA members across Australia, with online voting allowing full industry participation. The international award was split into two parts this year, for online and offline operations, with offline operations including any airline which is not flying its own aircraft in Australia.
Eddie Lim, Emirates Area Manager Australia accepted the award from Dane McAuliffe of Star Appointments, saying: “Emirates is honored to be recognised by the national travel industry with such a prestigious award.
“We have experienced tremendous success in Australia, and accolades such as this are testament to the high standards of quality and ever increasing route network Emirates strives to offer to its passengers.”
Emirates’ partners in the Velocity Frequent Flyer Program were also winners, with Accor Asia Pacific named Best Hotel/Resort Group and Virgin Blue winning both Best Airline – Regional and Best Airline – National.
More than 550 members of the Australian travel industry attended the awards, which were hosted by television star Larry Emdur.
