England tourism awards venue unveiled
Next year’s Enjoy England Awards for Excellence will be held in York.
The city’s National Railway Museum will host the awards on April 23, 2009.
It is only the second time that the awards will have been held outside London in 20 years, following Liverpool hosting the event this year.
Hugh Taylor, chairman of the VisitEngland board, said: “We were happy to select York because of its accessibility, wide range of accommodation and attractions and not least the commitment, support and enthusiasm of the Yorkshire Tourist Board and the National Railway Museum.”
