Entries open for New Caledonia triathlon

The 28th New Caledonia International Triathlon will take place in the South Pacific on April 28 and will see competition between local and international triathletes of all levels.

An Olympic event since the Sydney 2000 Games, the triathlon has three phases, swimming, cycling and running whose distances vary between competitions.

In New Caledonia, four races on a seaside course are offered to participants: the elite race, usually by invitation, gathering the best athletes of the moment, the race by age categories, the team race and finally the future race for youth from eight to 17 years.

Band entertainment, dances and a "pasta party" will be open to triathletes on the eve of event.

New Caledonia is located to the west of Australia and 20,000 km from France. It consists of a mainland 450km long, surrounded by the Loyalty Islands to the east (Ouvea, Lifou, and Mare), the Belep Islands to the north and Isle of Pines in the south.
