Entries wanted for NSW regional tourism awards
SYDNEY – Tourism operators in the Riverina, New England North West, Central NSW and Outback NSW are being encouraged to enter the 2010 CountryLink Inland Tourism Awards.
New South Wales Minister for Tourism, Jodi McKay, said the awards “are a fantastic way for local tourism operators to get the recognition they deserve, and to help them promote their product more extensivelyâ€.
She said the tourism industry were getting right behind the CountryLink Inland Tourism Awards with entry numbers increasing by 20 percent in 2009.
“Tourism operators are seeing the clear benefits of taking part in the awards and the role they play in helping to encourage a better appreciation of the value of regional tourism to our economy.â€
Entrants to the awards are made up of tourism businesses, events, marketing organisations, clubs and individuals all aiming for excellence in their industry.
Finalists have the opportunity to take part in the NSW Tourism Awards, and if successful, the opportunity to represent their state at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
A regional launch event will be held at Temora Aviation Museum on Thursday this week, and operators have until May 14 to submit their entries.
The winners will be announced during a presentation evening at Temora on July 24.
